In my career as an event photographer I’ve had the privilege to photograph a wide range of events and I’ve met people from all different walks of life. Each event has it’s own energy, but few match the prestige and exclusivity of the annual Allen & Company retreat in Sun Valley Idaho.
What is the Allen and Company Conference?
Every July, right after the last firework fizzles out, the mountains around Sun Valley, Idaho are lit up by a different kind of spark, one ideas, influence and innovation. That’s when the Allen & Company conference rolls into town: a private, invitation-only summit of CEOs, media moguls, tech giants, and political powerhouses. Some call it a summer camp for billionaires.

Photographing the Allen & Company Event in Sun Valley
Last year, I was hired by Shutterstock to photograph the event and capture some of the energy and exclusivity that surrounds this high-profile gatheringMy camera caught glimpses of Apple CEO Tim Cook, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman—alongside media icons like Oprah Winfrey, Shari Redstone (Paramount Global), and Bob Iger (Walt Disney)—all set against the stunning backdrop of the Idaho mountains and the historic Sun Valley Lodge.The event is famously hush-hush, with very limited media access, which makes capturing these moments all the more unique. “The Press” are allowed to photograph this event from only a few designated vantage points, so fast reflexes and long lenses are essential tools of the trade for any Sun Valley event photographer.
Returning as a Sun Valley Event Photographer in 2025
