This wedding took place a few months before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Like everyone else, I had a lot going on at the time. This post got lost in the shuffle. Now that we’re all seeing the light at the end of the tunnel… I decided it was time to share.
The Wedding
Val had been dreaming of a church wedding since she was a child and when Kyle proposed, she knew right away that St. John’s Cathedral would be the location for their wedding ceremony. This Catholic church is located in Boise’s historic North End neighborhood. As you can see from the photos, it’s a building filled with stained glass windows, marble and gold gilding.
The day of their wedding was very stormy and wet. A thunder and lighting storm rolled through downtown Boise right before the ceremony. Power outages rolled through downtown, but the cathedral remained a warm safe haven for everyone in attendance. In fact, the dark cloudly skies made this afternoon wedding feel as if we were spending an evening in the church.
Reception
After the ceremony the celebration took place at the Wyndham Garden Hotel on Vista Ave. Roughly 200 people were in attendance to help the couple celebrate the night away. Val had worked on hand making decor for the reception for months. She made sure to include elements of her hispanic culture into many details of the wedding day. I personally loved how everything was so bright and colorful!
These two families get along so well! This extends from their parents and siblings to their extended family. In fact, if I had not know otherwise, I would have assumed their parents had been childhood friends.
Congratulations Val & Kyle on a match well made! I know you’ll have many happy years ahead of you.
