Summer is just about here… and if you are getting married this year, now is the ideal time to start thinking about having your engagement photos taken. This is especially true if you are planning on incorporating photos into your wedding invitations, wedding website or even your wedding decor. Having photos taken by a professional photographer can help you add a polished look to your event.
Kayla and Casey are one of my couples from the 2016 wedding season who made sure to schedule an engagement session. These two were getting ready to tie the knot on New Years Eve and knew they wanted to take advantage of the warm summer months to have their engagement photos taken. Not only would this give them a much different look than their wedding photos, which would be taken in the cold and snow….but it allowed them the opportunity to use the images in a variety of ways leading up to the wedding. They used their favorite photos in their Save the Dates, on their wedding website and throughout the reception as decor.
To make this session go as smoothly as possible, Kayla and I met in advance to brain storm about potential ideas on themes and locations for their engagement session. We talked about the things such as what they typically do on the weekend, the types of vacations they go on, how they met….etc. With all this information out on the table we came up with two places which we thought best aligned with their interests We settled on a used bookstore in Nampa, Idaho and the grounds around the Bishop’s House in Boise. Both locations were very different from each other but suited the couples personality and interests well.
In the end the couple ended up with a number of images to choose from. What you see below are just a few of their favorites.
