Hannah, Justin, and I met up for engagement photos at an abandoned barn in Ada County. The location was within a few miles of the couple’s house and a perfect fit for the style of pictures they wanted.

How I Met Hannah

Hannah and I met this past January at the Wedding Party Show in downtown Boise.  We quickly hit it off and not long after the bridal show, Hannah contacted me to secure my services for her wedding in August.

We brainstormed a few potential ideas for engagement photos before the session, but the idea which really stuck was looking for an old barn.  Hannah and Justin own a few acres of land on the outskirts of Boise and have a number of horses, in addition to a few goats and some adorable dogs.  Hannah also used to be on the rodeo team at Idaho State University in Pocatello…. so a rustic themed engagement session really seemed to be the best fit for their personalities.

The Engagement Session

Once we settled on the idea of a rustic barn….we had to find one.  I was at a loss, but fortunately, Hannah and Justin drive by one every day on their way to work.  They tracked down the owner of the barn and asked for permission to have their engagement session photographed there.   The location worked out perfect….because not only did it have “the look” we were hoping for, but it was just down the street from their horse pasture.  This meant the horses didn’t have to be transported or leave the comfort of their familiar stomping grounds for the photoshoot.

Below are a few of Hannah and Justin’s favorite photos from their photo session.  I know they used a few of these for their “Save the Date” cards and I anticipate seeing a few used as decor at their wedding reception in a few weeks…. which by the way…I can’t wait for it.  I just know this is going to be a fun wedding!
