This was my 4th year photographing the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event. It’s held every October at Kleiner Park in Meridian. Each year I encounter a number of smiling faces that are return walkers. I’ve also noticed the number of attendees has been growing by leaps and bounds with each passing year.
While photographing the team groups I often hear a quick story about why each group of individuals is walking and doing what they can to support the Alzheimers Association. It’s always nice to say hello to those who have had their team photographed in past years. So many of these teams are families gathering together in support of a loved one who has been diagnosed with the disease. It’s incredibly rewarding to photograph these families year after year.
The Alzheimer’s Association
Walk to End Alzheimer’s is put together by the Alzheimer’s Association and proceeds from this annual fundraiser help support Alzheimer’s research and care. The event is held in numerous cities nationwide. So….if you’d like to get involved, I urge you to contact to your local Alzheimer’s Association offices.
I love your site and I am encouraged and inspired by your creativity.
…btw, the alzheimers work your doing is good. My Dad had dimensia and Alzheimers. Anyway, keep it up!
My best,
Shawn David
