Many people who live in the Boise area may have heard about the Peters family in the last few weeks. Their story has been in the news and mentioned on various social media sites. Maybe you’ve stopped and watched the stories being aired or read their story online. If you haven’t, you’ll want to continue reading to get learn about this sad, yet heartwarming story.
The Peters
Kevin Peters, the father of five, has recently been diagnosed with cancer and told he has a matter of months to live. Kevin himself is quite young, only 46, and he has three unwed daughters ages 13 to 21. These three girls will never have the chance to experience so many milestones with their dad by their side. One of those BIG milestones being the father-daughter dance on their wedding days.
An idea was born
Kevin’s daughter Kaitlyn recently attended a wedding and watched the happy bride dance with her father on her wedding day. Kaitlyn began to cry and it was not because she was overly happy for the bride. It’s because it really struck home she would never have the opportunity to share this moment with her Dad. Kaitlyn decided to do something about this. She started reaching out to the community and asking for help to pull together a mock wedding celebration. A celebration dedicated to honoring her Dad and a way for herself and her two other unwed sisters to experience a wedding dance with her Dad.
A helping hand
She reached out……. but never expected what happened next. A whole group of wedding vendors, Leap Photography included, rallied together and donated our services to help make this day happen. Gowns, flowers, food, and a venue are just a few of the services donated to the family to help make this day special.
