Back in June, my husband and I had the chance to visit Teater\u2019s Knoll, the only Frank Lloyd Wright\u2013designed home in Idaho. It sits high above the Snake River near Bliss, built in the 1950s as an artist\u2019s studio for painter Archie Teater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The house is unlike anything else we\u2019ve seen in Idaho. The way the windows angle out over the canyon, the stone pulled from nearby Oakley, and the way the rooms connect with the outdoors make it feel both simple and incredibly detailed at the same time. Light moves through the space in a way that changes by the minute. As photographers, that was the part that really caught our attention \u2014 every corner seemed to frame the river and the landscape differently.<\/p>\n\n\n

The tour we joined was a benefit for the Hagerman Valley Historical Society Museum. It was a reminder that places like this don\u2019t just survive on their own \u2014 they take care, attention, and people willing to support them.<\/p>\n\n\n

If you missed that tour, there\u2019s another opportunity this weekend. On Saturday, September 20, Preservation Idaho is hosting its own event at Teater\u2019s Knoll. Tickets are already gone, but the demand shows just how special this place is.<\/p>\n\n\n

For us, the visit was more than just a look at a famous house. It was a reminder of how space, light, and design can influence the way we see the world \u2014 the same things that guide our photography every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
