Events are back in full force in the Boise area. The Girl Scouts of Silver Sage, Top Cookie event has been one of my favorites to photograph this year.
For many, spring is synonymous with Girl Scout Cookies. Girl Scouts can be found throughout most cities and towns, selling their cookies in front of grocery stores, community events, or even knocking on your door. Girl Scout cookie sales not only help raise funds to help support the numerous Girl Scout programs available for members… but they also help build life skills such as public speaking and an entrepreneurial spirit.
The Event
We all have our favorite cookies… but have you ever thought to create a dessert from your favorite cookie? This is where the Boise Event called “Top Cookie” comes into play. A total of 6 bakers competed for the award of “Top Cookie”. It’s a friendly competition to see who can come up with the tastiest creation from Girl Scout Cookies.
Event Attendees not only get to try all the sweet treats on hand…. but they also had the opportunity to nibble on yummy appetizers, enjoy a beverage of their choice and meet up with friends. At the end of the evening each attendee had the opportunity to vote for their favorite dessert. Votes were tallied… and a “peoples choice” winner was chosen in addition to the “judges choice” winner.
Event Judges (L-R): Christina Maag, Sabrina Vaillancourt, and Sheli Gartman
Everyone in attendance had a great time catching up with old friends and trying the scrumptious treats. It’s pretty hard not to have a good time, when you’re supporting a great cause.
