No people, closed shops, and empty streets evoke a feeling of loneliness. Boise looks like a ghost town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All businesses are hurting in this time of the global pandemic, but small business owners are feeling the pinch more than most. In most cases, their income has come to a complete standstill.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Shop Local!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I ask all of you to THINK LOCAL, SHOP LOCAL, and make a conscious effort to help revive your LOCAL economy.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/buyidaho.org\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/leapphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/buy-idaho-logo.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6612\" width=\"131\" height=\"97\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only will you be helping small businesses stay afloat, but you&#8217;re helping your local economy. In fact, we were locavores before there was a word for it. We try really hard to keep our $$ in the local economy&#8230;. even when we travel out of state. Shopping at big box stores and chain restaurants is a huge NO-NO for us! Not only are we supporting a business owner and their employees, but everything trickles down to local farmers. Therefore the money we spend directly affects multiple small businesses within the community.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All goods and services that can be purchased from a local business get our cash. For example, pay for better service at a local greenhouse rather than buying from Lowes or Home Depot. Why? Both the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/theboisefarmersmarket.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Boise Farmers Market<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalcitypublicmarket.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Capital City Public Market<\/a> are currently open but in abbreviated fashions.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">An All Idaho Food &amp; Drink Spread<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost every Friday night, my husband and I have a charcuterie spread that allows us to not cook and graze while enjoying some downtime. Last week we decided to do a &#8220;100%, All Idaho&#8221; Friday night. It was a perfect way for us to support local and do our part to revive the local economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal was to have an evening of consuming only locally sourced food and beverages. I think we did an excellent job! They&#8217;re a relatively new cidery. If you haven&#8217;t tried it yet you can pick it up at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.meriwethercider.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Meriwether Cider House<\/a> in downtown Boise&#8230;. who also makes some seriously excellent ciders!<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.motherearthbrewco.com\/post\/treefort-music-fest-is-postponed-but-the-house-show-must-go-on\" target=\"_blank\">House Show<\/a> by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.motherearthbrewco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mother Earth Brewing<\/a> is brewed in Nampa and supports artists displaced by this year&#8217;s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.treefortmusicfest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Treefort <\/a>postponement. These Maple Syrup pecans are one of my favorite treats.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sea Salt Chocolate Bark by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/arnochocolates.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Arno Chocolate<\/a> is a sophisticated treat to enjoy alongside a 100% local charcuterie plate. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is basically how we enjoy most Friday nights. Everything was perfect and seemed to taste better when there is a tie to our community and a bond with area businesses.
