It was their annual Children&#8217;s Champion Luncheon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Idaho Voices For Children<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>First of all, in case you have never heard of &#8220;Idaho Voices For Children&#8221; it is a group of concerned Idaho citizens.  Individuals  who have come together to work on and implement new government policies and issues. It is not only a fundraiser for the organization, but a time for them to recognize one person from Idaho.  One who has gone above and beyond to help implement change for children and their families.&nbsp; This person of the year is given the &#8220;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/idahovoices.org\/events\/childrens-champion-luncheon-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\">Children&#8217;s Champion Award<\/a>&#8220;.&nbsp; The 2016 recipient was Mayor Garret Nancolas of Caldwell Idaho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Honoree<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Mayor Nancolas pioneered the concept of involving youth directly in government when he launched the Mayor\u2019s Youth Advisory Council in 1999.  It&#8217;s a model that is now widespread. Building on this commitment, Garret implemented the City of Caldwell\u2019s Youth Master Plan in 2012.  It includes youth in the process of creating initiatives that make the city better for them. He has been instrumental in launching Caldwell P-16, which provides preschool, after-school, and college and career readiness programs. He has been a champion for making sure that every third grader in Caldwell is water-safe. In 2015&nbsp; Garret developed Caldwell Saves 1st. A financial education program for parents and children.  He currently oversees the successful Youth Summit, an annual forum promoting youth leadership and involvement.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" a pleasure to once again be chosen as the official Event Photographer for the Luncheon.&nbsp; The individuals who attend are truly passionate about the cause and the positive, giving energy in the
