My recipe for salsa includes tomatoes, onions, anaheims, jalapenos, garlic and cilantro.<\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Step 2:\u00a0 Blanch tomatoes<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>For the best quality canned salsa the tomato skins need to be removed.\u00a0 Although this is admittedly tedious, you will be much happier with your final result if you take the extra time and remove the skins.<\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Step 5:\u00a0 While diced tomatoes are draining, chop all the remaining ingredients except cilantro.<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"http:\/\/leapphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Salsa-Canning_1007_IMG_52921.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/leapphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Salsa-Canning_1007_IMG_5292.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"434\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Step 6:\u00a0 Combine all the ingredients in a stock pot and slowly bring to a boil.<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Time to boil varies depending on the quantity of ingredients, anticipate your wait time to be approximately one hour.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t forget to occasionally stir the ingredients while you wait.<\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Once the mixture has reached a boil, lower the heat and simmer for approximately 30 minutes (don&#8217;t forget to stir) &#8230; Add the chopped cilantro during the last five minutes for a brighter flavor.<\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"http:\/\/leapphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Salsa-Canning_1008_IMG_52981.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/leapphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Salsa-Canning_1008_IMG_5298.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"434\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Step 7:\u00a0 Wash jars<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>To prevent spoilage it is very important to make sure your containers are clean and sanitized.\u00a0\u00a0 There is absolutely no room for shortcuts here.<\/i><b><br \/>\n<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"http:\/\/leapphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Salsa-Canning_1009_IMG_53041.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/leapphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Salsa-Canning_1009_IMG_5304.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"434\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Step 8:\u00a0 Boil jars for about 5 minutes.\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">This kills all germs that could be potentially growing on the surface.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t stress enough&#8230; don&#8217;t skip this step!\u00a0 A food born illness is not worth the risk.<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"http:\/\/leapphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Salsa-Canning_1010_IMG_53091.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/leapphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Salsa-Canning_1010_IMG_5309.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"434\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Step 9:\u00a0 Remove the jars from the hot water bath and immediately fill with contents.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>In the case of salsa and almost any tomato product you need to add 2-3 teaspoons of lime juice,\u00a0 lemon juice or vinegar to the jar before adding in the hot salsa mixture.\u00a0 I prefer lime juice for salsa.\u00a0 The lime juice acts as an additional acid which helps preserve the food and prevent botulism<\/i>.<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"http:\/\/leapphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Salsa-Canning_1011_IMG_53171.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/leapphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Salsa-Canning_1011_IMG_5317.jpg\" width=\"436\" height=\"640\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Using a canning funnel helps keep the rims of the glass clean while filling jars.\u00a0 Before placing lids on jars wipe around the ring of the jar with a damp cloth.\u00a0 Doing so will ensure a tight seal in the canning process.<\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both;
